What is Ohm?

Ohm is your personal energy assistant that can tell you the real-time electricity consumption of your home all the way up to the appliance level on a web/app interface.

How many logins are allowed for one home / one device?

You may choose to give access to around 20 users. However, it is advisable to keep your password safe with you.

Is there any limit to number of connected devices?

No. There is no such limit.

What value the device will provide to the Customer?

Ohm Assistant is designed for residential (and small offices) electricity users to empower them with access to electricity consumption information of their homes up to appliance level. It is positioned as a health & wellness product for your appliances.

What is the difference between B2C and B2B products?

Ohm Assistant, the B2C product, is an appliance and overall electricity consumption tracker designed to help users understand the heart-beat of their home, manage and maintain their appliances better and live sustainably. ,Omega or Ohm for business, a B2B product, is a real-time auditing tool for the management professionals. This would have a version of the app that would help the ground level operations executive and will generate daily consumption reports for the manager. The alerts are designed to ensure critical commercial parameters are taken care of which could have an impact on the bottom line. ,

How many appliances can be seen in a single dashboard?

In the residential space, the bot can detect the overall consumption for all heavy appliances in the home like Refrigerator, AC, Geyser, Washing Machine, etc. ,With enough training, the bot can differentiate between two similar assets inside the home. ,

What is the warranty for the product?

1 year. Beyond which, you could opt for a nominal AMC. Even without the AMC, the device can be very easily repaired by SustLabs’ authorised technicians. ,

What is the typical life-span of the device?

Since there are no moving parts, the device should function properly like a WiFi router or electricity meters. SustLabs ensures updates are available for its users regularly. A typical update cycle is 1 month.

Since the device is WIFI enabled, so is there a range within which only the app will provide me real-time consumption usages?

No. The device once paired to the residential (or local WiFi) would operate independently and shall keep pushing data on your mobile device even if you are physically not at the same place.

How does it work?

The device gets fitted in series with the main MCB, and then, with continuous wifi support, it captures the electrical signatures of appliances and then differentiates the appliances based on various parameters. Then, it will automatically detect the Heavy appliances like AC, Geyser, Fridge, heating element, etc.

Will the installation damage my existing MCB box?

The device is of standard size and fit for a regular MCB box. Any trained electrician will be able to install it without any damage.

Will this device work in an open area of a building like to check the consumption of lift, lights and motors?

Yes, the device collects data from the MCB box. The actual location of the devices does not matter.

Can the device be used for clinics?

Yes, the device is fit to be installed at any location with up to 120 amp consumption

How will you install the device if I have a power protector and inverter?

The device would be installed after a power protector.

Will the electricity board restrict me to install your device

There is no such permission required to install the device.

What is the difference between Ohm for home and Ohm for a business device?

Ohm for home is designed to monitor home appliance-based consumption, it has an app-based System. ,Ohm for business is designed for commercial purposes, it has a CRM based system. ,

Would ohm for the home device be usable in Office?

Parameters for both the devices are different according to the use, to get accuracy it is advisable to use the device designed for that purpose only.

How will Ohm Bot help me?

The Ohm bot allows users to understand which appliances are awake at the moment and what is happening in our homes in real-time.

How do I know if my appliances are in order?

You may explore the diagnostics feature to evaluate appliance health.

Big Data

Is my data safe and is my privacy protected?

All your data is saved in SustLabs server and we have a separate data protection policy.

Since SustLabs is a startup, if in near future someone else acquires the company, then will my data be protected?

The data of the customers will continue to be protected in all cases.

Energy saving

Will the device help me save?

The device itself doesn’t save your electricity but our users have saved up to 39% electricity by acting on the information shared with them.

Can I challenge the utility with the information on the app?

Normally we do not see any discrepancy in the utility meter reading but should you face any glaring inconsistency, please reach out to SustLabs before approaching the utility for help.

How do I track my electricity consumption efficiently?

Please install the widget on your mobile home screen. This will help you track the electricity consumption of your home in real-time. This is one of the most used features of the app that has maximum impact.

What are the various electricity consumption data that will be shown by the app?

The user can track the overall consumption of the home in real-time, in addition to the forecast energy bill for the month and timestamps of appliance consumption. More interesting features will continuously be added to this list.

Can I show your data to the electricity board in case of an excess bill amount?

Yes.

How much energy will your device consume?

The device consumes less than 1W energy.

Can your engineer check and tell me which device is consuming more energy?

You can monitor your appliances through our application on your own with no assistance required.

How can I save power through your device?

This device is a monitoring device which will should your consumption of data on a real-time basis anytime anywhere. Once you get the power to monitor you can easily save power by identifying high consumption appliances, electricity leakages etc.

Issues & Limitations

Does it require Wi-Fi to operate?

Yes, 24X7 for the data to flow in seamlessly.

What amount of data would the device consume should it be paired to my WiFi?

The data consumption is in bytes and not even KBs or MBs

How can I verify if OHM is connected to my Wi-Fi?

The LED lights indicate the connection status. If it is blue, it is not connected. But, if it is green, it is connected.

What will happen if the phase is reversed?

If the phase is reversed while installation, one would get negative values in reading.

Does it have battery back up?

No.

Can this monitor solar production?

Yes, but overall solar production as import / export values.

Can it control load / devices from the app?

No, it cannot. It is only a monitoring device.

My single house electricity has been provided by 2 energy meters. In this case how should I connect the OHM to monitor my house? Will the information merge into one account?

Two energy meters will require 2 separate Ohm devices, but information can be merged into one account.

Will Sustlabs start charging for their App in the future? If yes, then how much?

It may be a minimum amount of 1 rupee per day if chargeable

Does the app work in both iOS & android?

It works perfectly with an Android and very soon we will be able to offer a fully functional iOS app. Meanwhile, iOS users can access our desktop version via Safari/Browser

Will the device be replaced in case of abnormalities in functioning? If yes, then which service centre does the customer have to contact?

In case of any abnormality, SustLabs should be contacted. The device can be very easily repaired by SustLabs’ authorized technicians.

Will the installation of the device create a dispute between the customer and the Electricity supplier?

No.

Will I be charged for installation?

We are a product based company, installation is done by the channel partner depending upon the labour and travel expenses the partner might charge. Alternatively, you can get the product installed by any trained electrician.

Does your device have a touch screen system?

No, all the data is displayed in app only

Would you be sending someone for initial installation and configuration?

Yes, in case you have bought through our channel partner, they will help with the installation. In case you have ordered online, you can get the device installed by any trained electrician. The Sustlabs team will help remotely in the process.

Does the device work well with an inverter installed?

Yes, the device works without much of an issue with an inverter installed. Although, we have seen some old inverters contributing back the grid leading to faster discharge. This could be an opportunity for you to check that.

Will it know if the electricity is gone and lights and fans are running on the inverter?

Since there will be no energy passing through the main meter, the bot will identify current consumption as zero.

How does the process work?

Big Data compiled and dissected through Machine Learning (ML) through in-built proprietary algo helps in real time record of electricity consumption at our home.

Can I install it myself?

You can but it’s advisable to get help from trained electrician for installation.

Can I install it in my office?

Yes, you can. Please be advised the product is created for residential purposes only. User discretion required.

What are the checks that I need to do before installation?

You need to know whether you have a single / three phase connection and the sanctioned load capacity for your home.

How do I know if I have a single or three phase connection?

Please check your electricity bill for a quick answer. Alternatively, please share a photograph of your distribution box and an expert from SustLabs would be able to help you.

How do I know the Ohm devices are compatible with my sanctioned load capacity?

Ohm devices can cater to 98% of the homes across India. To be on the safer side, it is advisable to check the sanctioned load capacity of the home (which is printed on the electricity bill) and compare it with the device specifications.

Where should I install the device?

It is advisable to install it at the mains of your home. However, if you wish to use it for a specific room or another purpose you may choose to do so. It should always be after the utility meter inside the domestic circuit (typically anywhere after the circuit breaker in the meter room). Follow installation manual.

Where can I buy 1-Ohm or 3-Ohm?

You may buy it from Sustlabs internal store ,Amazon or Flipkart. There are offline models available as well where you can buy it from SustLabs directly. ,We are also availble on Sezzle. Link your credit card, to get exclusive offers

Does it autoconnect to WiFi once power is restored in case of power outages?

Yes, it auto connects back.

How much space does the device occupy?

For single phase OHM (1 Ohm) the space occupied is equivalent to 3 single pole MCBs and for 3 phase OHM (3 OHM) it is equivalent to 7 single pole MCBs.

Is it CT connected or directly connected?

It is direct connected.

Can this work outside India?

Yes,its a global product.We are live in 4 continents.

Can I deploy it at my restaurant?

Yes, if maximum Amperes consumption is not more than 100 Amps.

What does the emoji ‘WhoAAAA’ stand for on home page?

The emoji WhoAAA alerts you about high energy consumption.

What does ‘neighbourhood’ indicate on homepage?

Neighbourhood gives data on average energy consumption for similar kinds of homes in the your neighbourhood.

What does the word ‘live’ mean on the home page?

Live’ means that the data is being collected on real time basis.

‘Diagnosis’ button on Vyas means what?

The ‘diagnosis’ button helps in getting information about possible energy leakage sources / option within home. It helps in checking the health of the appliance.

What information does one get under ‘Vyas’?

‘Vyas’ is being developed as a recording tool for all your home appliances wherein you can maintain details like make, brand, purchase date, warranty information, service date, AMC as well as star rating of the appliance.

What does the ‘Budget’ section help?

‘Budget’ section helps with energy statements, billing forecast for the month.

Does the pie chart gets updated daily?

Yes, it gets updated on daily bases.

What does the Numbers indicate in pie chart?

The numbers on the pie chart indicate the percentage consumption by that appliance as compared to the total energy consumed the previous day.

Why are questions being frequently asked below the pie chart?

The questions are triggers based on energy consumption at your home that will help us boost and customize the pie chart break down feature for you.

What are the questions that appear below the appliance level consumption pie-chart?

That is a reflection of how accurately the bot is able to read and detect a specific appliance. It helps the bot to improve on its accuracy if you validate readings once in a while.

Will the app provide me with a daily report on my electricity consumption?

In the analysis page of the app, you will see the overall appliance level consumption (primarily heavy appliances). You may also ask for an energy statement (similar to a bank statement) which shall contain day-wise overall unit consumption available in budget page.

Will Sustlabs provide the demo training to the customer?

Customer success is a priority at SustLabs. We will ensure proper training and shall also be a message away. You will have a provision to reach out to us without any IVRS (no holding the line or waiting for someone to respond). Contact us option is available via Ohm-Assistant app. ,Ohm for business clients can reach out to us with Omega portal. ,

Can the Customer get the information about his consumption on the web?

Yes, you can get the information about your consumption on the web, please visit ohmassistant.com and then click on ‘My Ohm’. On being prompted, please enter your mobile number and OTP you can check your consumption data.

Does the customer have to dedicate a device like a laptop, desktop, phone, tablet, etc for the app?

No, the App can be used on multiple devices with the same user data.

Will the customer get a periodic energy statement on email?

Energy Statements are available as and when required, just insert your start date and end date of the statement you wish to download.

When some abnormalities are observed in the App, will the customer service help me?

Yes, the users can raise a service request from the Ohm Assistant app and the team shall respond within 24 hours.

Will the app be enabled with Machine Learning and help suggest optimum temperature for my AC, as per my previous usages?

As of right now, we are unable to offer a control feature. That may happen in the future development of the App.

In how many mobile phones can the customer enable the SustLabs App to use it simultaneously?

Multiple access using the same user information is allowed.

How accurate is Sustlabs forecasted bill?

It is 99% accurate when compared to your residential electricity bill, it may show very slight variations as the timing of your meter reading varies and your smart meter would capture the unit consumed for the whole day.

How many devices have you installed till date?

We have installed more than 1000 devices across the country in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, etc.

How many MBs of the internet will this device consume to update data on a real-time basis?

A minuscule unit of internet data is used by the device.

If we order, how soon can we get it?

We will ship the device within 24 hours.

Can I pay electricity bills through the Ohm Assistant app?

Yes. The app is linked to the PayTM payment gateway through which you can pay your bills.

Can I see at what time my appliances were switched on?

Yes, you can see the timestamp when your appliance was switched on.

I have a 20 kw connection. Will a 3phase device work?

Yes, it will work. This device is for residential purpose and the current limit is 120A.
